MethodDesign development and expert evaluation
ProcedureAipan motifs from Uttarakhand folk art were adapted into a design pool for appliqué work, categorized into center, border, and buti designs. Thirty motifs were developed for items like bags and pencil purses. A panel of thirty judges visually evaluated these designs, selecting the two best in each category. Six motifs were then chosen for five arrangements per article. Four final appliqué arrangements were created using various embroidery stitches on poplin and leftover fabrics, and the resulting articles were evaluated by consumers.
